Strange bedfellows
My first comedy routine on the Dark Side! Woot! I keep thinking about the phrase "Politics makes for strange bedfellows". Have you ever heard the word bedfellows used outside of this saying? I sure haven't. What does that mean anyway? Are your bedfellows the people you sleep with, kind of like your nightime entourage? Do they have a job, like are they supposed to fluff your pillow, fetch your slippers and robe, and get you a drink of water during the night or are they just there to keep you company? "Fellows" kind of sounds like a Victorian expression to me. You don't hear people saying "Me and my fellows are going to go to the movies today". It also sounds like a male descripter. I've never heard women referred to as "fellows". The song "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" confirms that a fellow is a "he". Since nobody uses the word "fellow" anymore, the saying and the song really should be updated. What do guys call their friends now? Do they still say homies? If so, the saying would be "Politics makes for strange homies" and the song would be "For He's a Jolly Good Homie". Hmm, on second thought, if we were to update "fellow", "jolly good" would have to go, too. Nobody uses that expression anymore. Let's see...what expression is used to today to signify that something is very good. "Off the hook"? I think that will do it! So let's try it out... For he's an off-the-hook homie, For he's an off-the-hook homie, For he's an off-the-hook homie, That nobody can deny!

     Thats pretty good stuff Peeky  When I hear homie I think of Homie the Clown, I think he was on In Living Color....he bopped you with a sock and said "Homie dont play dat". *sigh* I would laugh and laugh

Thanks, Peppy. I loved In Living Color in it's earlier seasons! It got stupid toward the end when they kept doing the Fire Marshall Bill and other dumb skits. I always liked Homie the Clown, though. BTW, I probably spelled "homie" wrong. I have no idea which spelling it should be and was too lazy to look it up. It's not part of my regular vocabulary so I didn't care too much if I did spell it wrong.

Pika...you off-the-hook homie! Wait...that doesn't work as well for women! Hmmm...can't have that! Got to come up with one for the ladies in the house. Well...ladies in the hip-hop culture (which has spilled all over) are often called hos. But that has derogatory conotations. However, Snoop Dog would probably say she is the shizzle. For Real...or "for rezzile." So maybe.... For she's the for rezzile shizzle! For she's the for rezzile shizzle! For she's the for rezzile shizzle! Which nobody can denizzle! Word. 8)

ROFL! I'm going to use that cheer at the next girl's posting party.
